The amendments to Bill PR 26-0257 declare an emergency to grant the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development the authority to provide financial support to the African American Civil War Museum. This funding is essential to complete the museum's expansion, which reflects the community's need to better showcase the contributions of Black and brown soldiers in the Civil War. These changes ensure that the museum can continue fulfilling its role as an important educational resource, which attracts over 200,000 visitors each year.
