The bill has been amended to formalize an emergency resolution for establishing a truancy pilot program that directs unexcused absences to the Department of Human Services (DHS). This legislation is important because it ensures that the temporary pilot, aimed at improving student attendance and outcomes, can continue operating until a final report on its effectiveness is completed on August 15, 2025. Additionally, it emphasizes the funding already allocated for truancy prevention.
