Plain-language change summary

The amended bill now officially approves a multiyear contract with Edelson PC to provide legal services focused on investigating and potentially litigating against violations related to lead water pipes, with a payment limit of $85 million. This change is significant because it aims to hold accountable those responsible for the past marketing, selling, and installation of lead pipes, which can have serious public health implications. The emergency status of the legislation underscores the urgency of addressing these issues quickly to protect residents.
