The updated version of the bill clarifies the resolution's focus on a specific multiyear health benefits contract with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, removing references to additional entities and streamlining the document. The estimated cost of the contract remains the same at approximately $769.4 million over five years, but the revisions enhance clarity on what the emergency resolution entails. This matters because it helps ensure that essential health benefits for District employees, their dependents, and retirees are authorized promptly, allowing them to access necessary medical care without interruption.
