House Bill 2640 has been updated to ensure that charter schools have the right of first refusal when their district-owned building is up for sale. This means that if a school district decides to sell a building, they must first offer it to the charter school that has been leasing it, and they cannot accept a lower offer from other buyers. This change is significant because it helps protect charter schools' interests and promotes stability in their operations by giving them a priority opportunity to purchase facilities they are already using.
