Plain-language change summary

The latest version of SB 1296 has made significant changes related to how the Department of Economic Security verifies claims for benefits. It removed references to using commercially available databases for incarceration and death records, focusing instead on official government sources. This shift is important because it aims to ensure that the verification process relies on more reliable and accurate data, potentially reducing fraudulent claims and protecting legitimate claimants. Additionally, it emphasizes the Department's responsibility to confirm claim validity before any benefits are disbursed.
