Plain-language change summary

The amendments to HB 2883 change the focus of the bill significantly. Instead of just mentioning the capacity of school district governing boards to sue and hold property, the bill now requires the Department of Education to create a comprehensive training program for these board members. This training will cover important topics such as school finance, budget development, and ethical responsibilities, ensuring that board members are well-prepared to manage their districts effectively. These changes matter because they aim to enhance the governance and accountability of school districts, ultimately benefiting education in Arizona.
