Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill HB 2540 introduces a provision that allows high school students enrolled in public schools to submit their scores from nationally recognized assessments directly to their school. This change is significant as it enables students or their guardians to opt out of state-mandated assessments if they provide these external scores beforehand, ensuring that students are evaluated based on their actual performance rather than being required to take multiple tests. Additionally, it streamlines how these scores are recorded and reported, which could make the assessment process more efficient for schools.
