Plain-language change summary

The amendments to SB 1215 clarify the roles of legal counsel and litigation financiers by emphasizing that litigation financiers cannot make decisions about the case or its strategy. Instead, the control remains entirely with the named party and their legal counsel. Additionally, changes were made to streamline how courts evaluate the impact of litigation financing in class action and multidistrict litigation cases, focusing on conflicts of interest when determining fair representation. These updates aim to strengthen consumer rights and ensure transparency in legal proceedings.
