Plain-language change summary

The amendment to House Bill 2165 now focuses specifically on banning soda purchases with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, excluding candy and other snack items from the restrictions. If the state receives a waiver, SNAP recipients will not be allowed to buy soda; if not, the state must keep requesting the waiver annually. This change simplifies the bill, emphasizing soda specifically, and aims to promote healthier choices among beneficiaries by limiting access to sugary drinks.
