Testing upon reentry in public school. (a)(1) A student who leaves a public school district or open-enrollment public charter school for at least one (1) year may reenter a public school district or open-enrollment public charter school at the grade level appropriate to the student's ability. (2) The determination of a student's grade level under subdivision (a)(1) of this section may be based on the student's performance on a grade-level placement test administered by the public school district or open-enrollment public charter school. (b) A student who reenters a public school district or open-enrollment public charter school under this section shall not be placed in a grade that is higher than the grade level associated with the student's age.
This establishes a procedure for reentering students to take a placement test to determine their appropriate grade level.
