The revised version of SB 110 changes the focus of the museum grant program from construction, expansion, and major renovations to specifically supporting new constructions and major expansions. It increases the minimum square footage requirement for existing facilities from 10% to 30% and includes additional funding flexibility for museums to acquire artifacts and improve services. This matters because it broadens the scope and potential impact of the grant program, encouraging more significant growth and development of museum facilities, which could enhance cultural education and resources in the community.
