The updated version of HB 2195 adds a specific timeline for when new rules related to on-site wastewater treatment facilities will take effect, stating that these changes apply primarily to facilities that handle large volumes of wastewater (between 3,000 and 75,000 gallons per day). Additionally, it clarifies that the Director must require maintenance and monitoring for these facilities and may also impose financial assurance requirements for larger facilities. This matters because it strengthens regulations to ensure better oversight and accountability for wastewater management, ultimately protecting water quality and public health.
