The updated version of Bill SB 49 removes provisions about attorney fees that could have been awarded against individuals who seek protective orders. This change is significant because it ensures that those who are trying to protect themselves from workplace violence can do so without the fear of facing additional financial burdens. Additionally, the bill maintains the authority for peace officers to arrest individuals suspected of violating protective orders or committing domestic violence, providing a stronger response to such incidents.
