Plain-language change summary

In the updated version of Senate Bill 1199, the definition of eligible damages in veterinarian malpractice cases has changed significantly. Now, pet owners can claim the fair market value and reasonable veterinary expenses for any "domestic animal," including various types of pets beyond just dogs and cats. Additionally, the previous provision allowing for compensation for loss of companionship has been removed. This change expands the potential compensation for pet owners but also limits the types of damages they can seek, which is important for how these cases will be handled in court.
