The revised version of House Bill 2571 includes more specific criteria for privatizing the Arizona Highways Magazine. The changes stipulate that only private entities based in Arizona, with a minimum of five years of existence and demonstrated experience in magazine publishing and social media, can bid to purchase it. Additionally, the requirement for the private owner to publish the magazine monthly has been removed, which means the new owner has more flexibility. These amendments matter because they aim to ensure the magazine is managed by a qualified local entity while also allowing potential owners greater operational freedom.
