Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 1260 specifies that all pari-mutuel wagering on simulcast dog racing will be banned in the state starting June 30, 2024, rather than solely prohibiting simulcast dog racing more generally. This means that if any dog racing originates outside the continental U.S., it will not be allowed at all from that date onward. These changes are significant as they tighten restrictions on dog racing, reflecting a shift in regulation that could impact the industry's future and address public concerns about animal welfare.
