The amendment to HB 2609 adds a provision that allows for the refund of overpaid fees associated with automobile theft claims for the year 2023. Insurers can submit a written request for the refund by December 31, 2024, provided they include the necessary documentation to prove the overpayment. This change matters because it provides financial relief to insurance companies that may have been incorrectly charged, ensuring fairness and accountability in fee assessments.
