Plain-language change summary

The revised version of Senate Bill 1591 introduces a new fund specifically for victims of criminal damage, called the Victims of Criminal Damage Fund. This change means that fines collected for criminal damage offenses will be deposited into this dedicated fund, which will be managed by the Administrative Office of the Courts. The fund aims to provide financial support to retail businesses that have suffered damage and are unlikely to receive restitution. This matters because it creates a streamlined way to help affected businesses recover from losses due to criminal activity.
