The revised version of HB 377 clarifies the definition of a "record" by removing the term "electronic mail" and enhancing the scope to more broadly cover various forms of documentation. Additionally, it adjusts the financial stipulations regarding costs incurred by municipalities when fulfilling record requests: the new language allows municipalities to charge for actual personnel costs solely for the search and copying of records, rather than including review and redaction tasks as well. This change primarily matters because it aims to streamline the process and potentially reduce costs for both municipalities and the public when accessing records.
