In the latest version of SB 1583, lawmakers clarified that the bill specifically applies to offenders who were eighteen years or older at the time of their offense. This change highlights a focus on adult offenders and aims to better define the scope of the bill’s provisions regarding the internet sex offender registry. By making this distinction, the law seeks to ensure that the registration requirements are clearer and more targeted, which could help in addressing public safety concerns.
