Plain-language change summary

The changes to SB 1253 clarify that registered sex offenders who are legal guardians of a student must inform the school principal or administrator of their registration status within ten days of the student enrolling. Additionally, if the registered sex offender is on probation, their probation officer is responsible for ensuring that the school receives this notification. This matters because it enhances school safety by making sure that educational institutions are aware of any potential risks related to sex offenders involved with students.
