The amendments to HB 2142 changed the funding for the produce incentive program from a one-time appropriation of $5 million to a commitment for ongoing funding, ensuring that this amount will be available in future fiscal years as well. Additionally, the bill clarified that this appropriation would not lapse at the end of the fiscal year, providing more stability for the program. This is important because it ensures long-term support for initiatives aimed at boosting local food production and access, creating a more sustainable system for both producers and consumers in Arizona.
