Plain-language change summary

In the latest version of HB 162, several key phrases were updated to remove the words "modification" and "accessibility" in relation to the repair and maintenance of digital products. The sections regarding what digital product manufacturers must provide, such as documentation, parts, and tools, have also been clarified to ensure that these items are made available without charge, although there is a provision that allows manufacturers to charge for the physical copy of documentation and tools. These changes are significant because they aim to strengthen consumer rights by ensuring easier access to necessary information and parts for repairing digital products, making it simpler for individuals and independent service providers to maintain their devices.
