The amendments to SB 1259 clarify the process for conducting hand counts during elections. Specifically, the bill now specifies the exact number of workers needed, stating that political parties must provide sufficient personnel by a set deadline to ensure that hand counts can proceed. This change is important as it aims to ensure that recounts can be carried out effectively, which can help maintain public confidence in election integrity. By detailing the responsibilities of political parties and the election officer, the bill seeks to avoid delays and confusion during what can be a critical time in the electoral process.
