Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to HB 2741 simplify the process for waiving licensing fees for certain individuals applying for their licenses for the first time. The main addition is an annual reporting requirement, which will track how many fees were waived and for what reasons. Notably, the bill removed a provision that allocated $300,000 to reimburse agencies for those waived fees, indicating a shift from direct funding to enhanced transparency and accountability in reporting. This matters because it aims to support those in need, such as low-income individuals and military spouses, while ensuring the state can monitor the benefits of the fee waiver program effectively.
