Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to SB 1444 require that patients or their families who allege retaliation provide a written description of their claims to an independent oversight committee. This change is important because it establishes a formal process for reporting such allegations, ensuring they are documented and investigated appropriately. Additionally, the Arizona State Hospital's administration is still allowed to take action against patients for violations of hospital policies, reinforcing the need for accountability within the facility.
