The recent changes to Bill HB 2862 include clarifications on how school districts and charter schools must report student absences to the Department of Education, now stipulating that they do this at least every sixty days. Additionally, the bill updates the definition of "average daily membership" to include hours scheduled for students in common schools, which helps ensure accurate funding and resources are allocated based on student attendance. These updates matter because they aim to streamline reporting processes and improve educational support for students with disabilities, ensuring they receive necessary resources.
