Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill HB 2397 include a shift from using an "integrity data hub" designed by experts to simply utilizing a "database that provides cross-matching functions." This change means the bill may now rely on a broader set of data solutions rather than a specialized system. Additionally, the amended version emphasizes the department's responsibility to recover improper benefit overpayments while still adhering to state and federal laws. These updates aim to strengthen the oversight of unemployment benefits and enhance fraud prevention efforts, which is crucial for protecting state funds.
