Plain-language change summary

The revised version of Senate Bill 1044 increases the funding allocation from $133,900 to $474,200, allowing the hiring of six new benefits counselors instead of just two. This increase emphasizes a stronger commitment to supporting veterans' services, particularly by ensuring that at least two counselors will be located in Apache, Coconino, or Navajo counties. This expanded staffing will help improve access to benefits for veterans in these areas, which is crucial for their support and well-being.
