Plain-language change summary

The proposed amendments to Bill SB 1114 now allow for both personal and religious exemptions from immunization requirements for students. This change emphasizes that parents or guardians can submit a signed statement either using a form from the Department of Health Services or a separate document they create. Additionally, the language around these exemptions has been clarified to be more inclusive. These changes matter because they may make it easier for parents to opt-out of certain immunizations based on personal or religious beliefs, potentially impacting public health and school attendance policies.
