Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 1558 clarifies the rules for claiming lodging, meal, and incidental expense reimbursements for individuals traveling for work, especially those who are away from their primary residence for long periods. It specifies that persons who travel for less than a full 24 hours or do not have lodging receipts can still claim reimbursement. Additionally, it states that lawmakers will have a separate long-term subsistence allowance, which will be outlined in another section of the law. These changes are important because they ensure that all individuals required to travel for work can receive fair compensation for their expenses while also establishing specific guidelines for legislators.
