Plain-language change summary

The changes made to House Bill 2736 include striking the section about tobacco distributor licenses and replacing it with provisions for an affordable housing premium tax credit. This new section allows taxpayers who apply to the Arizona Department of Housing and receive eligibility for a qualified affordable housing project to receive a tax credit equivalent to the amount of the federal low-income housing credit. This matters because it aims to promote affordable housing development in Arizona, making it easier for low-income families to access housing.
