Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to SB 1014 clarify the process for notifying property owners about zoning amendments and specify that a protest must come from owners of twenty percent or more of the property within a defined area. Previously, the bill included slightly different language about the area considered for protests. This matters because the changes aim to ensure that local governments have a consistent way to handle protests and vote requirements, thus potentially enhancing community engagement in zoning decisions.
