The updated version of Bill HB 2158 makes a few important changes. Firstly, it clarifies that sections 19 through 27 of the 2016 law will now reference the same criteria regarding veterans’ estate values and tax forms, ensuring that the information is consistent and up to date. Additionally, the repeal date for specific sections has been extended from December 31, 2019, to December 31, 2021, allowing for continued application of these rules for a longer period. These changes matter because they provide clarity and continuity for veterans' estate handling and tax information reporting.
