The bill requires school districts to establish procedures for providing medically necessary services to children with disabilities in a school setting.

  • AS 14.30

Sec. 14.30.282. Provision of medically necessary services in a school setting. (a) Each school district shall establish and implement written procedures to allow a child with a disability who has a medical diagnosis and presents a prescription from a qualified health care professional to access medically necessary services in a school setting. (b) In this section, (1) "health care provider" has the meaning given in AS 08.02.130; (2) "qualified health care professional" means a health care provider who is licensed in this state or board certified.

This addition creates a new requirement for school districts to provide access to medically necessary services for qualifying students.
