The recent changes to SB 154 involve the addition of a new provision that grants a two-percent price preference to bidders who qualify as Alaska bidders and meet specific criteria related to employing individuals with recent military connections. This adjustment aims to support local businesses and encourage hiring within veteran communities. It matters because it not only enhances opportunities for Alaska-based companies but also promotes the inclusion of veterans in the workforce, contributing to economic growth and stability in the state.
