Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to House Bill 279 make a change to how the chair of the Local Boundary Commission is selected. Previously, the chair was a member appointed from the state at large, but now the governor will designate a chair from among the commission's members. This shift could enhance accountability and ensure that the chair has direct experience with the commission's work, potentially leading to more informed leadership. Additionally, the bill reaffirms the commission's responsibilities regarding local government boundary issues and service extensions.
