  • AS 14.30

Sec. 14.30.363. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation education. A school district shall instruct public secondary school students in hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation at least once in grade 9, 10, 11, or 12. A school district shall adopt a program for hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation instruction that is based on national, evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A person holding a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate or a current teacher certificate issued under AS 14.20 may present the program to students. The program must (1) incorporate hands-on practice in addition to cognitive learning; and (2) include instruction in the appropriate use of an automated external defibrillator, which may be taught using video or other means if in-person instruction is not available.
