Plain-language change summary

In the latest version of Senate Bill 122, there have been some key changes to how individuals are identified as being related to a person who has been a victim of an offense or who is deceased. The updated bill clarifies the categories of people who can be recognized in such cases, expanding the definitions and ensuring that minor or incompetent individuals are included more specifically in the context of their relationships. These changes matter because they provide clearer legal guidance on who has rights or standing in cases involving victims, helping to better protect the interests of vulnerable individuals.
