The updated version of HB 53 clarifies the residency requirements for enrolling children of active duty military and National Guard members in public schools. The change specifies that parents or guardians must provide written proof of residency within 30 days of the child's first day of school. This adjustment is important as it ensures that these families can quickly secure proper schooling for their children as they transition to new locations due to military assignments.
