The changes to SB 36 shift the reporting requirement from a biennial (every two years) report to a semiannual (twice a year) report on accreditation by the Regents. This means that lawmakers will receive more frequent updates on accreditation matters, with specific deadlines for when these reports must be delivered. This change matters because it enhances oversight and accountability in the education system, allowing legislators to respond more promptly to any issues that may arise.
