Plain-language change summary

The proposed changes to Senate Bill 66 focus on the composition of two legislative committees. The bill now specifies that each house must have at least one member from the minority party, removing the earlier requirement for members to come from the “two major political parties.” This change is significant as it promotes a more inclusive representation for smaller or alternative parties in the legislative process, potentially leading to a broader range of perspectives in decision-making. Additionally, the bill adjusts the number of appointed members to the Legislative Budget and Audit Committee from three down to two for each house, streamlining the committee's size while still ensuring diverse representation.
