Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Senate Bill 61 clarifies the language regarding the commissioner of natural resources' ability to modify leases related to oil and gas production. Specifically, it replaces the broader terms like "royalty increases or decreases" with a focus on modifications to net profit shares. This change simplifies the process and may make it easier for the commissioner to adjust lease agreements, which could positively impact oil and gas development activity. Understanding these modifications is important as they may influence economic outcomes in the state's natural resource sector.
