The recent changes to Bill SB 19 involve increasing the funding allocation for the special education service agency from $18.65 to $23.13 per student, which reflects a greater commitment to supporting students with special needs. Additionally, the expiration date for the agency's funding has been extended from June 30, 2021, to June 30, 2029. This matters because it ensures ongoing support and resources for special education services in Alaska, helping to improve educational outcomes for these students over the next several years.
