The amendment to HB 182 changes the timeframe for conducting tests on sexual assault examination kits from one year to six months after the laboratory receives the kit. This change is significant because it aims to speed up the testing process, which can help in gathering crucial evidence more quickly and may lead to faster justice for victims of sexual assault. The quicker turnaround is intended to enhance the overall effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing such cases.
