The updated version of SB 80 has removed a clause that prohibited state agencies and corporations from using funds to influence the outcome of certain ballot measures. Additionally, it now clarifies that if any part of an initiative petition is deemed unconstitutional after it has been distributed, the entire petition will be rejected and won’t appear on the ballot. These changes aim to simplify the process for handling initiative petitions while also ensuring that any constitutionality issues lead to the complete dismissal of a proposed law, which could impact voters' ability to bring initiatives to the ballot.
