Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to SB 30 establish a middle college program for public school students in Alaska, allowing eligible high schoolers to earn both high school and college credits by taking courses through the University of Alaska. Notably, the updated legislation requires every school district to participate and support these students, covering tuition costs while the students are responsible for other expenses. Additionally, the bill now emphasizes the program's accessibility by allowing participation starting after the 8th grade, rather than the 10th grade. These changes aim to enhance educational opportunities and better prepare students for postsecondary education.
