The updated version of the bill, now titled "An Act establishing a museum grant program," broadens the focus from just museum construction to also include grants for major renovations and the repatriation of Native artifacts. This change is significant because it allows museums to seek financial support for a wider range of important projects that can enhance their ability to preserve and showcase cultural heritage. Additionally, the program will now provide funds for costs related to returning Native artifacts, which could play a crucial role in honoring cultural history and addressing past injustices.
