The revised bill HB 406 now clarifies the funding process for schools that consolidate. It specifically allows districts to use their last fiscal year's funding as a baseline for the first four years following consolidation, which can help prevent a drop in aid if student enrollment decreases after schools merge. This change is important because it aims to stabilize funding for districts during the transition period, ensuring that consolidated schools receive adequate financial support despite potential initial drops in enrollment numbers.
